Rookie Information
1. The number one goal of our
organization is for all children to have a positive and fun experience.
You can help us do that by volunteering to be a coach (we need two for
each team!).
2. CYB will supply bats, helmets, and uniforms; players are responsible
for their own gloves.
3. In general, children in first grade play Rookie League ball. Second
graders may choose to stay in Rookie Ball, or they may opt to try out
for Minors or Softball ,where they would play with 3rd and 4th graders.
See our letter to parents about
this choice.
4. There are no tryouts or draft at the Rookie level, and the
T-Ball/Rookie League Commissioner will assign all players to a team.
5. Siblings will be matched to the same team unless parents request
otherwise.
6. Coaches will be contacting you with formal schedules once the teams
are assigned.
7. Rookie preseason begins two weeks before Opening Day (first Saturday
in May).
8. Opening Day is the first Saturday in May (May 1, 2010, including team
photos and a parade--more on that later!)
9. Practices and games (besides Opening Day) are held on Monday through
Thursday evenings from the start of May through mid-June (actual last
week TBD). The actual dates will depend on the team the child is
assigned to. There are no Saturday games for Rookie Ball. Coaches will
notify parents about weather-related postponements and cancellations.
10. The Rookie field is located behind the Little League field (Beanie
Field) at the end of Linden Ave.
11. Coaches will try to instruct players as to the proper rules and
skills of baseball; the emphasis at the Rookie level will be on
instruction, not “winning.”
Rookie Rules
1. This is a coach-pitch
league.
2. Games begin at 6 pm and last 6 innings or 90 minutes, whichever
comes first
3. For safety reasons, all players not batting, on the bases, or in the
field, must sit in a designated area, away from the playing field.
