CYB Coach Job Description (Head Coach and
Assistant Coach)
Philosophy – Cooperstown Youth Baseball believes in
building character, teaching life lessons, and developing softball and baseball
skills. We support the concepts of the Positive Coaching Alliance and are
committed to “Honoring the Game”. We believe the coaches in our program must be
committed to the same.
Every coach should show commitment to Honor the Game,
commitment to practice and teach, commitment to be a positive link to the
players and parents of the programs.
Every coach will be certified yearly as a “PCA
Double-Goal Coach” by attending a workshop (through CYB) or on-line certificate
($25)
Every coach will be committed to modeling proper behavior, respect for the game
and the facilities at all times.
Every coach will participate in Coach Clinics (skills workshops) through CYB
Every coach will participate in yearly AED training through CYB
Every coach will participate in first aid training
Every coach will participate in pre-season coaches meeting, fundraising on
canvassing day, and field clean-up
Every coach will identify a parent responsible for concession duties
At Beanie Ainslie Field coaches are responsible to
Rake and line field before game.
Rake field after game and practice.
Empty trash from dugout when necessary.
Set up scoreboard.
Cover mound and Home
plate with tarps after game or practice.
Keep shed orderly.
Maintain, collect, and
return equipment, uniforms and keys at the end of the season.
Cooperstown Youth Baseball will provide
PCA Workshop - Coach and Parent
and require each family to participate
Coaching clinics (skills workshops)
Tools to help communicate with parents including a Parent contract
AED Training
First Aid Training
Instruction on field set-up and maintenance
Commitment to support the coach and the programs.
